Our Story

PARKWAY’S
BEGINNING

In 1972, a small, vacant church, on a 5-acre site in Oak Creek waited for Frank and Angeline Tamel to establish a place of worship, while their growing congregation of nearly 50 were meeting in the basement of a South Milwaukee home. Within three months of Parkway’s first service, that, “small, vacant church” was purchased. Within the first 10 years of its existence, the church underwent two expansion projects and established their third and current sanctuary in 1983.

CONTINUING THE VISION

Bishop Frank Tamel retired in 2003, and Anthony Tamel, his son became Parkway’s senior pastor, along with his wife, Diane. The following decade was one of continual growth and innovation, especially in the area of Small Group Ministry.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

In 2012, Pastor Tamel realized it would be wise to prepare someone for Parkway’s future. He invited Tim Peters, Assistant Pastor of Cornerstone Apostolic Church in Elk Mound, Wisconsin, to visit and speak to the congregation. Pastor Tim Peters and his wife Melissa agreed to join Parkway’s pastoral team and moved to Oak Creek, along with their three children, Dakota, Cameron, and Meghan.

CONTINUING
THE LEGACY

Anthony Tamel retired in September of 2018 and became the Minister Emeritus, affectionately referred to as “Bishop,” and Timothy Peters assumed the role of Senior Pastor of Parkway Apostolic Church.
